student
Formula Student® is a global competition led by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), in which teams design and manufacture a car that they have to defend in front of a jury made up of high-level experts.
The objective is to stimulate young engineering students to demonstrate their initiative and creativity, designing a competent and reliable prototype. Thus, many universities decide to participate in Formula Student, defending its design and competing against rivals in renowned circuits: Silverstone (United Kingdom), Hockenheim (Germany) and Montmeló (Spain).
It is a relevant university and professional competition, which has the support and collaboration of multinational companies that sponsor this event.
The Formula Student® consists of several tests that are carried out in different countries, such as the United Kingdom, the USA, Canada, Germany, Brazil, Japan, Hungary and Spain.
The rules of each competition are similar and are based on the Formula SAE rules.
Each test is divided into two categories: Static Tests and Dynamic Tests. In the static tests, the participants have to defend their projects both in economic aspects, market analysis and technical details.
On the other hand, in the Dynamic events, the cars compete taking them beyond their limits to demonstrate skills, such as acceleration, stability, resistance and consumption. As it could not be otherwise, the judges of the competition are recognized members of the engineering and automotive sectors.

Engineering
Design event
The level of innovation and the cohesion between the vehicle systems are evaluated. The design of each piece must be justified and supported.
Engineering
Cost event
All vehicle manufacturing costs are explained and reasoned simulating series production.
Business plan
The team is compared to a company that presents a project to demonstrate the viability of the business by selling a single-seater run.

Endurance
This is a 20-lap race on a cone-limited track where the vehicle's strength and reliability are tested. No adjustments or refueling are allowed. At the end of the test, efficiency is also evaluated.
Autocross
The time it takes to turn a circuit limited by cones is measured to test the handling of the car.
Each team has the opportunity to make four laps on the circuit to improve times.
Acceleration
Maximum acceleration ability is demonstrated on a 75-meter straight.
Skid-Pad
The lap time is measured on an 8-track, wet track circuit where the grip and stability of the car is tested.
